1. Purpose
LMS Sheridans is committed to maintaining a professional, safe, and respectful
environment for all employees, clients, contractors, and visitors. This policy explains
what constitutes unreasonable behaviour and how the company may respond.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all communications with LMS Sheridans, including in-person
meetings, telephone calls, emails, letters, or any other method of contact.
3. Examples of Unreasonable Behaviour
Unreasonable behaviour may include, but is not limited to:
- Persistent or excessive demands that disrupt normal operations.
- Aggressive, abusive, or threatening language or conduct
- Personal insults or derogatory remarks directed at staff, clients, or other
stakeholders - Repeatedly raising the same issues without providing new information
- Discriminatory or offensive comments based on race, gender, disability, sexual
orientation, or other protected characteristics - Harassment or intimidation of staff or other stakeholders
4. Managing Unreasonable Behaviour
LMS Sheridans may address unreasonable behaviour through a combination of
measures:
- Limiting Contact: For individuals who repeatedly contact the company in ways that disrupt staff duties, such as multiple phone calls, emails, or letters, we may request that communication be restricted to essential matters. Contact may be limited to a specific staff member and/or a particular method (e.g. written correspondence only).
- Providing Warnings: If behaviour becomes disruptive during an interaction, staff will ask for it to stop. Should it continue, a clear warning may be issued explaining that further misconduct could lead to restricted contact or other actions.
- Terminating Communication: In exceptional situations, LMS Sheridans may decide to cease further contact with an individual whose behaviour remains persistently unreasonable or abusive. Such decisions are authorised by a senior manager.
- Documentation: All incidents of unreasonable behaviour, including warnings issued, contact restrictions, or calls terminated, will be formally recorded and reported to a senior manager to ensure accountability and support any necessary follow-up.
- Involving Authorities: Where threats are made against staff, volunteers, or company property, or where behaviour may constitute a criminal offence, LMS Sheridans may involve the police or other relevant authorities immediately.
5. Support and Consideration
LMS Sheridans recognises that some behaviours may stem from misunderstandings or
personal circumstances. Where reasonable, we will provide guidance, support, or
adjustments to resolve issues constructively and maintain positive engagement.
6. Review
This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective and relevant.
Feedback from staff and clients is encouraged to help maintain a safe, professional
environment.
